Javascript framework in real time application

I am a beginner in real time application. I have a project to make a real time application using laravel framework. Then, I search for tutorials and I get some. But I don't understand because I see that many tutorials need node.js or vue.js to make it. After reading some articles about vue.js, I see that it is a javascript framework for frontend needs of a project. So, what is the relation between vue.js or node.js with real time application. Why we need node.js or vue.js?
