Date laravel query mysql

Hi i have table with 2 field: date_start, date_end

How can I check through a query whether there is such period.

for example in DB date_start - 2018-02-06, date_end - 2018-02-10

date for check 2018-02-07 to 2018-02-13

or 2018-02-03 to 2018-02-07

the request should show an error that the period is already taken
