Counting active sessions for a particular route in Laravel 5

I am trying to figure out a way to track active users on a specific route e.g. "X people are viewing this now".

I was trying to achieve this by using the built in sessions functionality within Laravel, but can only get it to track ALL sessions and NOT sessions for a specific route.

I have scanned the docs and can't seemed to find a way. Can anyone share any knowledge?
