make custom unique ID

i want to make auto generate unique id in laravel like PO-12010001 where PO is the product, 12 is month, 01 is year, then 0001 is ID of product. I have tried googling and the answer is using UUID but i still can't understand how to make custom auto generate like PO-12010001
