Which is better for hosting a payment gateway: AWS or Shared Hosting? [on hold]

I'm building a payment gateway that simply processes payments using a custom payment api. Considering security and other factors, should i host it on AWS(Amazon web services) or a regular shared hosting site? What will be the pros and cons of choosing any of them? I'm also wondering whether I should build it with regular php or laravel php framework. Any comments or input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
