Apple Push Notification - stream_socket_client(): SSL operation failed

I have been trying to send Push Notification using Laravel 5.5 and was struck with the below issue.

local.ERROR: ZendService\Apple\Exception\RuntimeException: Unable to connect: tls://gateway.push.apple.com:2195: 2 (stream_socket_client(): SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL Error messages: error:14094415:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:sslv3 alert certificate expired) in /home/devproj/vendor/zendframework/zendservice-apple-apns/library/ZendService/Apple/Apns/Client/AbstractClient.custom.php:117

I have created a new certificate today and I have run through telnet and OpenSSL commands to there is any connection issue.

It would be great if someone gives me a hint on what am I missing in this case

We had SSL enabled on the web and we got Push notification in dev which is a NON-SSL.
